About the Creality Filament System (CFS)
The Creality Filament System (CFS) is very similar to the popular Bambu Lab AMS, but has temperature and humidity indicators that complement the "sealed design" and are particularly welcome in humid environments. The CFS uses RFID technology to identify filaments (probably Creality's own filament only), and each CFS unit can hold four spools of filament spools of filament. Up to four units can be combined, allowing for a total of 16 materials.
About the new K2 Plus 3D printer
The new K2 Plus 3D printer offers a print volume of 350 mm³, linear rails, a die-cast frame, active chamber heating, strain gauge autoleveling, acceleration of 30,000 mm/s² and FOC enclosed motors. It comes with Creality's newly announced Apus direct extruder, which can be heated up to 350°C and offers a 66% higher flow rate than the "previous design" (presumably the Sprite extruder). The extruder features hardened steel gears with DLC coating, which are said to be durable when printing with carbon fibers. It also includes a filament cutter, which is handy for reliable filament changes.
Creality OS and Edge AI technology
The printers will be powered by Creality OS, which will receive an open-source implementation with the Ender 3 V3. They will apparently use "Edge AI technology", which Creality attributes to an error-detecting camera and "AI model blending". Interestingly, according to Creality, these AI services do not require an internet connection. Processing is done locally on the K2 Plus' dual-core CPU and 32GB eMMC system. This should be welcome news for critics of Bambu Lab's connectivity requirements.
Availability and upgrade kits
The standalone Creality K2 Plus and CFS combinations will be available worldwide from July 31, 2024. However, if you are interested in the CFS for an earlier Creality K-Series printer or the recently released Ender 3 V3 3D printer, you're in luck. Creality announced CFS compatibility upgrade kits for these systems during their anniversary livestream.
